LanierWorld Offers Fun For The Whole Family Through Mid-September

There's Still Time To Go To The Beach - and Waterpark!

By Michelle Sisco July 30, 2015
Summer break may be coming to an end, but it's hotter than ever right now and plenty of "summer" activities will continue throughout August and into September. If you're looking to find a way to stay cool and have a blast with your family, consider a visit to LanierWorld at Lake Lanier Islands.

We recently returned home from a roadtrip to Virginia - it was just me and my two boys, ages 7 and 10. On the return portion from Charlotte, I decided we should stop and spend the day at LanierWorld, because amazingly, we'd never been! (I'm kicking myself now because we missed an entire summer of fun at Lake Lanier.) We had an awesome day, and I can't wait for the chance to go back. Next year, I suspect we'll become season pass holders. If only I had a boat!

Lifejackets are available for lake swimmers - and are required for anyone
who wans to play on the wibit! (see below)

LanierWorld offers a little bit of everything for water lovers, thrill seekers and sun lovers. Sure, the sandy beach may not be attached to an ocean...but it's a beach nonetheless. The lake is awesome for swimming - and for playing on the wibit. The waterpark is perfect for kids of all ages (not to mention there's a huge wave pool). And I was impressed that the new zipline across the lake was included in the admission price.  It's a great deal at $41.99 a day (for 42" and taller) and $31.99 a day for under 42". Plus, there are special daily promotions - weekdays primarily, if you CLICK HERE. The season pass deals are a steal at $199.99 for 3 people, though it's a little late for us to do that this year. Summer 2016 - it's on the agenda!

That obstacle course you see is the wibit....and it makes me think of "Wipeout".
Indeed I did wipe out and fall into the lake! You can't see it, but the zipline is right
behind and above the wibit.

One of the best things about our visit...it simply wasn't crowded. It was somewhat overcast on that Thursday, and I was told crowds were smaller than usual, but even so - it was pretty amazing. There were no lines for the waterslides, which made the kids EXTREMELY happy. I even missed Drew riding the zipline because I figured he'd be waiting in line for a while - apparently not. And you can tell from the photos, there was no shortage of room to sit and relax on the beach. I know weekends can be different, but I was told by a season pass holder they never really have problems with lines or crowds. That's a huge selling point for me!

Jack was very proud after sliding down this steep slide! (on the right)

Wondering what LanierWorld has to offer?  Here's the scoop:

(Note: if you are interested in staying at Lanier Islands, CLICK HERE to read about accomodations and additional activities ranging from golf to horseback riding to boat rides and more.)

These attractions are new in 2015 and my kids LOVED them! Make sure to visit the LanierWorld website to see a lot more photos!

CAT4 Tube Slide
This four-lane slide begins at the top of a hill near Sunset Cove, flies out over the boardwalk and beach, and splashes down in the waters of Lake Lanier. Riders will hop aboard a tube, head to one of the 4 lanes, and get ready to race! Once the race begins, riders will fly down the lanes, over the boardwalk and across the beach and out over the water of Lake Lanier.

Thunderbolt: Triple Zips
Don't miss this new 3-lane zipline that is sure to thrill everyone! Zip and zoom down 3 lanes from Big Beach, out over the waters of Lake Lanier and to slide hill near Blackout at Racing Waters. Whether you want to race or just zip along, one thing's for certain: it will be epic!

The WIBIT Doubles in Size
This year, the wibit doubled in size! Now you can bounce, jump, climb and splash your way across this Aquatic Adventure for twice as long each trip!

Other Attractions:

Of course, the white, sandy beach at LanierWorld is a premiere attraction (beach only passes are available). Enjoy the sand and the lake  - and relax. I did quite a bit of that while my kids rode the waterslides!

Play on a dozen wet rides, slides and attractions including Wild Waves, Georgia’s largest wave pool (with Thursday night dive-in movies).

The kids enjoyed the "foam parties" that were happening throughout

the day alongside the wave pool. And we stayed a while to watch
some of the Dive-In movie too!

Enjoy great food from a variety of dining options including Sunset Cove Beach Café, Gianni’s Italian Bistro and Pizzeria, Tiki Hut, Tads, and the Boardwalk Cantina.
