Save Time and Money With The OneRX App!

Be Informed Before You Purchase High Cost Prescription Drugs

By Michelle Sisco October 2, 2015

Allergy season is upon us here in the Atlanta area. October – at least for me personally – is one of the worst months, as I tend to be plagued with sinus headaches which often lead to infections. My oldest son seems to have taken after me – he’s been sniffling and complaining for the last month already, and I know I need to get him to the doctor to see what the best course of treatment will be for this time of year. I’m fairly certain it will involve prescription drugs – Nasonex is one I imagine they might prescribe (from past experience).

So, with that, and flu season upon us, it seems the perfect time to introduce you to OneRX.

Prescription drug prices are skyrocketing…as are out-of-pocket costs for millions of Americans. My family is on a high deductible plan, and we’ll never reach it in this calendar year. So when prescriptions need to be filled, I’ve learned that OneRx can be a huge money- saver – and it’s so simple to use. Start by simply downloading the app onto your smartphone/device.

First, set up your account (or accounts) by adding your personal information. And if you do have insurance, you should load it as well. (A nice bonus of this is that your medical insurance information will now always be easily accessible via your device!)

I’ll tell you a little about how OneRx works and saves your money, but here’s another time-saving tip you should be aware of first! OneRx can tell you if a prescription written by your doctor will require prior authorization from your insurance company in order to be filled. There’s nothing worse than being sick/having a sick child, going to get a prescription filled, and then finding out you have to wait for authorization. With the OneRx app, you can check for the prescribed drug while you are in the doctor’s office. If authorization is needed, you can see if the doctor can make a call right then and there.

Here’s another example of how handy the OneRX app can be! I often need medications from the dermatologist for conditions like rosacea. I blindly have accepted the prescriptions in the past, only to get to my pharmacy to find out I was prescribed a $300 drug. Now, with OneRX, I can check while I’m in the office to see what the cost will be, and discuss options with my doctor if it’s unaffordable. This immediate and FREE access is invaluable! OneRx is the only app that enables you to get the most out of your benefits AND comparison shop for real-time savings simultaneously.

So, here’s how it works!

Now that you have an account, log in. Enter the name of the drug you have been prescribed. The OneRX app will pull up the drug, and also let you know if there is generic available. If you prefer generic, click that. Then go to Find Lowest Price.

Note here, I put in Nasonex, but I opted for the brand and yikes! Good think I can shop for other options!

So I tried the generic route – and got this window, letting me know that the least expensive option would be to use my new OneRx card (which you receive when you register). Decide how you want to proceed and you’ll get a list of nearby pharmacies as well as pricing per pharmacy. If you’re using your insurance, your copay will be taken into account.

It’s that simple. Choose where you want to get your prescription filled, and go and get it (or have your doctor call it in to that location first). If it was suggested that you use your OneRX card, you will just show that to the pharmacist from your device to get your discount.

I am thrilled to have discovered OneRX, especially as we head into allergy, cold and flu season. Download the app and let it work for you too!
