But whenever I put a model toy of any kind in either of their hands, they usually sit right down and start working on it. And that's exactly what happened with the Revell SnapTite® models we were sent for the kids to build.
Jack didn't listen when I told him to save his model for later. I wanted to take pictures of him at work. That wasn't happening! Instead he took it upstairs, where I found him about an hour later, happily playing with a completed model Jeep Wrangler. So I had to stage the shot below...

I managed to get a few photos of him working on his VW Beetle though. I love that at age 8, he reads the instructions and figures it all out on his own.
These new Revell Scale Models are made for children as young as six. They are much less complex than traditional models (no engineering degree required), and allow kids the joy of building their own toy without the frustration!
The initial 26-kit collection ranges from the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for young builders, to a series of Star Wars models including Luke Skywalker's X-Wing Fighter, and even a Corvette Stingray for kids up to age 12. The new design approach is matched to kid's abilities and attention spans.

The SnapTite® Build & Play (Skill Level 1 for ages 6-8) features 10 to 20 pre-decorated pieces that can be snapped together in less than 30 minutes with no need for glue, paint or tools. SnapTite® (Skill Level 2 for ages 8-10) include 20 to 45 pre-decorated pieces with build times of up to one hour. SnapTite Max® (Skill Level 2 for ages 8-12) has 25-60 pre-decorated snap together pieces and the same one hour build time as the SnapTite models, but are more challenging for intermediate builders.
Drew still has to build his Challenger Model (in main photo). This one's more work than the SnapTite® models, as it is an introductory glue kit, skill level 3 (ages 10-12). The kids contains 40 to 70 pre-decorated pieces (up to 50% less pieces than a traditional glue kit for this age). It does require glue and tools, but paint is optional. Project time is up to three hours. It's going to be a perfect activity for him over the holiday break!
All 26 new Revell model kids are available at Michaels Stores at prices from $14.99 to $24.99. The packaging is designed for easy identification of skill level, target ages and build time to help with purchasing decisions. Check them out HERE.
If you have have young builders in your house, add this one to the holiday gift list!
