Happy Friday!
I'm writing you from New Orleans, where I'm vacationing with my family and giving them a little taste of Mardi Gras (literally - they're eating some king cake as I type this).
Last night they experienced their first Mardi Gras parade, and as you can see from the photo, they really scored some loot! The "throws" sure have changed since when I was growing up. Cheap beads and doubloons no more...at the Krewe of Muses, we caught LED necklaces, headbands, socks, and even a fancy bedazzled flip flop!
It's a beautiful, warm day here in New Orleans, and we're going to head outside and enjoy it before we go stake our location at the next parade this evening, and prepare for more on Saturday too!
Unfortunately we'll have to head back home on Sunday and miss Mardi Gras day itself, but I'll be loading up the car with king cakes and more goodies. I guess it's time for these kids to get back to school.
If you've been on winter break (feels more like spring break), I hope you've had a good one! March will be here in a few days. Wow!
NEW SITE UPDATES:
Things are starting to come together with our new site and format. Right now I'm focused on getting our event calendar up to speed, but soon we'll be filling up the summer camp guide for you. Can you believe it's time to start planning your summer?
Here are some of the changes you might have noticed and can expect moving forward:
First, the weekly email. Each week I will be sharing several great articles and my top 10 (or so) event picks for the week. Our website will have TONS more on it. More articles, more events, more everything. So be sure to head over there each day to see what's going on, and to see if anything new and fun has been added.
Second, the calendar. I know it looks a little different. Right now the monthly calendar view that you are used to is not visible, but that doesn't mean those events aren't there. They are! One of the things I LOVE is the ability to search for events by date and category (this is still a work in progress so stay tuned). This makes finding events even easier!
Third, finding articles that matter most to you also just got easier. With one click, you can access a complete list of all our site's articles, and you can now search for them by the categories you love such as crafts, reviews, recipes, parenting tips, travel and more. (Categories are coming soon too, if they aren't listed already.)
Finally, our online Business Directory and newly added Guides tab will make it even easier for you to connect with great local businesses and resources for you and your family. Summer Camp Guides, Birthday Party Guides, Kids Eat Free, Steals & Deals - it's all coming!
