Catapult Back in Time at Medieval Times!

By Shannon Moore March 24, 2017

Staying home for Spring Break? There are still plenty of fun things to do around Atlanta! My family and I visited Medieval Times Atlanta the other day, and had a blast! Jousting knights, falconry, prancing horses, and a feast fit for royalty was the perfect kick-off to our Spring Break stay-cation.

We started our four-course offering with ‘dragon scales’ (garlic toast), and were treated to a spectacular show of horses from the castle stables. Next came the ‘dragons blood’ (tomato bisque soup), which we had to drink from a bowl, because there are no utensils! The feast continued with roasted chicken, buttered corn, herb-basted potatoes, and concluded with a super-yummy slice of lemon pound cake. Again, all eaten by hand, as there were no forks in the 11th century. My kids weren't sure about this, but enjoyed it once they knew it was okay to eat everything with their hands.

While we feasted, the show continued with falconry, a live jousting tournament and sword-to-sword combat that had us screaming and cheering for our knight. Even though our Red Knight didn’t win the tournament, he chose my daughter as his “Queen of the Tournament”, giving her a sash bestowed upon him by the beautiful princess.

All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food, the show, and everything. In my almost-eight-year-old son’s words, “It was amazing!” Medieval Times is a great family outing for Spring Break, or any time.
