2020 Summer Camp Teaser

By Cookie Suarez, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Buckhead-Midtown-Brookhaven January 10, 2020

Happy Friday! I know it's only January, and maybe you're starting to think about summer camps. Some schools and businesses around Buckhead, Midtown, and Brookhaven have already opened up early registration. Many are finalizing their summer curriculums right now.

We are connecting with these places so we can share their camp info with you. So, please stay tuned for our 2020 Summer Camp Guide. It will include summer camp offerings for sports, art, drama, science, education, and more!

For now, I do want to share two summer camp opportunities here in Atlanta that require an application process with deadlines approaching in mid-February and late March!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers a FREE camp called the CDC Museum Disease Detective Camp. Two 5-day sessions and four 2-day sessions are offered in mid-June and July 2020. Students must be rising high school juniors or seniors for the 2020-2021 school year. There is a required application process that ends on March 27, 2020. The application for the CDC Disease Detective Camp is very competitive and spaces are limited. For more information, please visit the website and review the FAQ's. Good luck!

The other camp I want to share is called Odyssey: Atlanta's Alternative to Summer Camp. This camp targets students in rising grades 1 to 12 from Title 1 Atlanta Public Schools. The program is six weeks long, with a STEAM and project-based curriculum. The Odyssey program requires an application process that ends on February 14, 2020. For more information, please visit the website.
