Get ready to experience the heartwarming holiday magic as the Center for Puppetry Arts proudly presents Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerTM from November 13 to December 29, 2024. The timeless story of acceptance and courage returns for its annual performance at the Center, making it a cherished holiday tradition.
Adapted from the 1964 Rankin/Bass television special, Rudolph goes beyond nostalgia. Directed by Tim Sweeney, the show combines cutting-edge puppetry techniques—such as body, rod, and black light puppets—with dynamic set pieces that recreate the snowy wonderland of Christmastown. Each performance captures the depth of Rudolph’s journey, offering audiences not just a fun evening out, but also a chance to reconnect with the story’s enduring message of self-acceptance and kindness.
"Rudolph is so much more than a Christmas story. It’s a reminder that what makes us different can also make us extraordinary," says Beth Schiavo, Executive Director of the Center for Puppetry Arts. "This production holds a special place in our hearts, and we hope it continues to bring joy, wonder, and a sense of togetherness to all who come visit the Center and see the production."
Explore Festive Features: A Global Celebration Through Puppetry
Beyond Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerTM, visitors can explore Festive Features, a special exhibit celebrating both Christian and Jewish traditions through puppetry. Jane Henson’s Nativity Story offers a heartfelt portrayal of the Christmas nativity, while The Famous Chelm Players bring humor and warmth from Jewish folklore. These exhibits highlight the power of puppetry to unite different cultures and offer something truly unique this holiday season.
