Children’s Museum of Atlanta: Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out

September 22, 2023

Families are invited to dig deep into their feelings and explore Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out, the newest feature exhibit at Children’s Museum of Atlanta, now open through January 7. This exhibit, based on the popular hit Disney and Pixar animated feature Inside Out, helps guests understand the important role emotions, memory and imagination play in their everyday lives. Created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, the limited time exhibit will run through Jan. 7, 2024. This exhibit is also sponsored locally by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Strong for Life.

Emotions at Play features hands-on and digital encounters centered around the five key emotions showcased in the award-winning film: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear. Children can develop their emotional intelligence by learning to identify and understand these emotions, exploring the myriad of ways humans express and cope with each one. Young guests explore emotions by creating music at the Control Panel, while the Emotions Mirrors offer an enlightening experience where guests discover the meaning behind feelings that are communicated through facial expressions and body language.

Kids will engage in a reflective journey when they write a memory, store it in the memory sphere and adjust its color to mirror their associated emotions. Small storytellers’ feelings take center stage as they create and perform their own play at the Dream Productions Stage. A can’t-miss is the exciting challenge of the Train of Thought that works on concentration and motor skills as guests guide a wooden ball on the train track. Friends aim to work together to navigate a ball through the emotions maze.
