Atlanta History Center:
Margaret Mitchell House Reopening
Atlanta History Center has reopened the newly renovated and reimagined Margaret Mitchell House with the unveiling of the new exhibit "Telling Stories: Gone With the Wind and American Memory" The exhibit explores the life and times of Margaret Mitchell, her experience in Atlanta, and her research process, helping situate this historical fiction novel in its contemporary context. It showcases the cultural phenomena resulting from the movie’s popularity and the many ways—both shallow and profound—that American culture shifted as a result. Finally, it traces the history behind the story, showing how Gone With the Wind reflected and advanced common historical myths about the causes and consequences of the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Center for Civil and Human Rights:

High Museum of Art:
Patterns in Abstraction: Black Quilts from the High's Collection
The exhibition will unite a number of recent acquisitions together to answer a larger question: “How can quilts made by Black women change the way we tell the history of abstract art?”
The exhibition includes pieces by well-known quilters from Gee’s Bend, Alabama, such as Mary Lee Bendolph, Louisiana Bendolph and Lucy T. Pettway, along with works by Atlanta-based quilters such as Marquetta Johnson and early 20th-century examples by makers once known.
Many of the works will be on view at the museum for the first time, and all were made by quilters in the Southeastern United States.
