July 30, 2015
Are you looking for a cool and practical new backpack for your child for the school year?

If your kids have outgrown superhero or cutesy backpacks and need something a little sturdier and grown-up, be sure to check out the great offerings from High Sierra.  You can purchase many of these directly from their site (and then some). They have a LIMITED TIME OFFER - Save $10 off every $60 you spend. Use code: SUMMER. Plus, Free Shipping on orders over $79.

However, most all the backpacks listed below can be found on Amazon. Or, if you don't have Amazon Prime and want it quickly, check local stores including Dick's and Kohl's - I've seen them there. And then you can take advantage of Georgia Sales Tax Holiday July 31 & Aug. 1 too!

We were sent a High Sierra Broghan pack to review. It comes in a variety of colors, but Jack loves the camo (pictured above and then below in black). This is a big backpack - easily big enough for a high schooler or adult. So, it's probably a little large for my 8-year-old, but he loves it and that's what matters. Plus it has plenty of adjustable straps and is lightweight. He may not fill it up for school (though we'll see...), but when we go on road trips, he definitely will take advantage of the extra storage.  These backpacks are extremely sturdy and should last way more than one school year, plus they can be used on vacations, hikes - you name it. I love the padded sleeve so you can slide in a laptop (or iPad, etc.). It fits most 17' laptops. The large, expandable mesh front pocket is perfect to put his lunchbox in, water bottle, towel - or whatever you'd like to keep from going INSIDE the pack. Retail Price: $59.99
